¶¶¶ In Situ Conservation ¶¶¶

- In situ conservation is one of basic approach to the wild life in protected habitats.

- In Situ conservation means conservation of species in its Natural ecosystem or even in man made ecosystems.

- This type of conservation applies only to flora and fauna.

- In Situ Conservation is a comprehensive system of "protected area"
(The protected area is specially dedicated to protection and maintenance if biological diversity and of Natural and associated cultural resource)

- There are different categories of protected areas which are managed with different objective.

These include :
• National Parks
• Sanctuaries
• Biosphere Reserve

• A National park is an area which is strictly reserved by the betterment of wild life. Here no private ownership is allowed. The atmosphere or abiotic components are made favourable to the living organism.

• A Sanctuary is generally species oriented area in which limited biotic interference is allowed.

• In Biosphere reserve, multiple land use is permitted. It is not only to one, two or more species, but to the whole ecosystem, total all life forms of the Earth.

¶ Limitations :

• Many protected Areas are not enough.

¶ Advantages:

• These are very important for purpose of wild life organism survival.

. Conservations identified certain regions which are species rich and endangered.

. They are called " biodiversity hot spots ".

Ex : westernghats and srilanka ,Indo - Burma and Himalayas.

. BIOSPHERE RESERVOIRS

. These are areas less distributed.

. There are 17 reservoirs all over latest one is Seshachalam hills.
