- In 1905 Lord Curzon divided Bengal in two states: East Bengal and West Bengal.
- This was done because British thought that if Hindu and Muslims will stay together so they can protest better and get independence. So they divided Bengal.
- The reason given to people of India by British government was that Bengal is a too large state to be administrated.
