➝ Properties of cathode rays :-

$\Large \star$The cathode rays move from cathode to anode.

$\Large \star$These rays are invisible but their behaviour can be observed with the help of fluorescent or phosphorescent material, which glow when hit by them.

$\Large \star$These rays travel in straight lines in the absence of electric and magnetic field

$\Large \star$In the presence of electric field they are detected towards anode and in magnetic field towards south pole.

$\Large \star$Cathode rays contains a negatively charged particles called electrons.

$\Large \star$The nature of cathode rays is found to be independent of nature of the cathode material and nature of the gas in the tube.

$\Large \star$Hence electrons are considered as constituent particles of all atoms
