First of all we will move a magnet through the mixture to seperate the iron filings from common salt and chalk powder as iron is a magnetic material and salt and chalk powder are not.
Then we will add the mixture of common salt and chalk powder to water. Common salt will disolve in water and chalk powder will settle down.
Then we will seperate the chalk powder from the salt solution by decantation or filteration and then heat the salt solution. Water will evaporate leaving behind salt and as a result common salt, chalk powder and iron filings or granules will be seprated from each other.
