Question -:

Write algebric equation for the following.

a) Four less than a number is 10.

b) The product of three and a number is equal to 12.

Answer -:

a) Let the number be x.

Four less than x = x - 4.

Its equal to 10, so -:

x - 4 = 10

x = 10 + 4

x = 14.

b) Let the number be x.

Product of three and x = 3x.

Its equal to 12, so -:

3x = 12

x =  \frac{12}{3}

x = 4.

Hope it helps! :)
