The anomalous behaviour in carbon is observed mainly due to the small size of the atom, high electronegative, the high ionization enthalpy, and the unavailability of d-orbital’s.

The reason for the anomalous behavior of carbon is because of the tetra valency of carbon, catenation, and the small size of the carbon.
