Ruskin Bond's story narrates the account of an earthquake in the 1890s in the areas of Assam and Bengal. The grandfather is childish in his behaviour that he likes to have a bath every time. The grandmother fears that if a quake strikes, he would be found in the bathroom. On the day of the quake the grandfather rushed to save his life and finally finds a wooden shelter. They decide to go to Calcutta for a new home.
