This question is based on the poem 'The Frog and the Nightingale' by Vikram Seth.

The frog was a self-centered, crude, manipulative and heartless creature who wanted to be the king of the Sumac tree in the bog. He had a harsh, coarse and irritating voice and did not possess any real talent of singing. In spite of these shortcomings, he was boastful and proud of his voice. He was envious of the nightingale and showed complete lack of emotion towards her. He misguided the nightingale and ruined her life to achieve his selfish motives.

He is a greedy creature as he charges every animal who comes to listen to the nightingale's song. He is a hypocrite who first robs the nightingale of her originality and spontaneity and later blames her for her lack of freshness and liveliness. His arrogant and pompous nature is revealed by his complete disregard of everyone's hatred and annoyance towards him.

He was also a good judge of character as he recognized the nightingale's innocence and lack of confidence and used it to his advantage.
