I think it should read; Write the characteristics of homologous series of alkanes.

So if that is how the question should read then the answers are;

1. They have a general formula of CnH2n+2

2. Boiling and melting point increases with the increase in the number of carbon atoms

3. Solubility decreases with  the increase in the number of carbon atoms

4. Alkanes are very nonreactive under normal conditions
