quicklime is used for whitewashing

when there is reaction of quicklime with carbon dioxide IT form calcium carbonate and it is used for whitewashing.


CaO + Co2 ====> CaCO3


there is formation of calcium carbonate and this is used for whitewashing of walls.



2 ) the chemical which is used in black and white photography is :-


silver chloride ( AgCl ) ( silver chloride is white in colour )

the formula of silver chloride is Agcl

Silver Bromide ( Silver Bromide is also white in colour )

the formula of Silver Bromide is ( AgBr2 )

Hii...Here is solution.

a) White washing is done with a slacked lime.

How it form

→→→→Cao (s) + H2O(L) → caoh2 (aq) calcium hydroxide (slacked lime) used for whitewashi.

Here combination reaction is involved.

b) Silver chloride is placed in sunlight for white photography.

eq, 2Agcl(s) + sunlight (as a catalyst) → 2Ag (s) + cl2 (g)


Silver bromide is used in black photograph.

eq, Agbr (s) + sunlight (as a catalyst) → Ag (s) + Br (g)
