Answer:

a) Fe + H₂O + O₂ ➝ Fe₂O₃.xH₂O

Iron + Water + Oxygen ➝ Ferric oxide

b) S + O₂ ➝ SO₂

Sulphur + Oxygen ➝ Sulphur dioxide

  • SO₂ + H₂O ➝ H₂SO₃

Sulphur dioxide + Water ➝ Sulphurous acid

Explanation:

a) In the first chemical reaction, Iron reacts with moisture and water in air and forms Ferric oxide which is commonly known as rust.

b) In the second chemical reaction, Sulphur is heated. In other words, oxygen is added to it. This forms Sulphur dioxide.

Sulphur dioxide so formed is mixed with water which forms Sulphurous acid.
