Deforestation : Cutting down of trees in large scale is called as deforestation.

 \large \dag Consequences of Deforestation are as follows :

  • Soil erosion will increase which will adversely affect soil fertility and productivity.

  • There will be a scarcity of forest products.

  • Wildlife will not be able to survive in the absence of forests.

  • In absence of forests, it will lead to reduced rainfall and increased temperature.

  • Animals will lose their natural habitat and they might even die.

  • With no plants and trees to hold the soil together, the soil gets washed away by strong winds and flowing water.

  • It will also be very difficult to recharge the existing water resources without forests.
