Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was the most notable Muslim reformer of modern India. He felt that the religious and social life of the Muslims could be improved only with the help of modern western education, culture and scientific knowledge. So, the promotion of modern western education among Muslims was his main task. He founded the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh (now Aligarh Muslim University) which became the center of his movement. The Movement came to be known as Aligarh Movement and became the center of spreading western culture and science.
He got translated various Western books into Urdu in order to make it understandable to Muslims. He appealed the Muslims to shun fanaticism, narrow-mindedness and exclusiveness. He interpreted the Quran in the light of science and rationalism. He also advocated women education and was against polygamy.
In short sir Syed Khan played an imprint role in the revival of Muslim-Reform Movement.
