let the point be p(X,0)

[as,the point lies on the X axis so ..y=0]

now... according to the problem..

point p on x- axis which is equidistant from the points a (-2,0) and b(6,0)

 =  >  \sqrt{( x + 2) {}^{2} + (0 - 0) {}^{2}  }  =  \sqrt{(6 - x) {}^{2} + (0 - 0) {}^{2}  }  \\  =  >  x + 2 = 6 - x \\  =  > 2x = 4 \\  =  > x = 2 \\ therefore \:t he \: point \: is\:  = (2,0)
