The point on the x axis which is equidistant from a( -2,0) and b(6,0) is (2,0).

Step-by-step explanation:

To find : Write the coordinates of point p on x axes which is equidistant from the two points a( -2,0) and b(6,0) ?

Solution :

The point is on the x axis so the coordinate of the point is (h, 0).

This point (h , 0) is equidistant from (-2,0) and (6,0)

So, distance of point and a = distance of point and b

(-2-h)^{2} + (0-0)^{2} = (h-6)^{2} + (0-0)^{2}

Simplify,

(-2-h)^{2}= (h-6)^{2}

Taking root both side,

-2-h=h-6

2h=4

h=2

Therefore, the point on the x axis which is equidistant from a( -2,0) and b(6,0) is (2,0).
