Heya.

If the number in the denominator has either 2 or 5 or both 2 and 5 as it's prime factors, then the decimal expansion of the fraction would be a terminating one.

In the given fraction 17/(4×125)

The denominator can be prime factorised as 2²×5³

It's prime factors are just 2 and 5. So the decimal expansion will be a terminating one.

Hi ,

17 / ( 4 × 125 )

= ( 17 × 2 )/ ( 2³ × 5³ )

= 34 / ( 10 )³

= 34 / 1000

= 0.034

= 0 + 3/ 100 + 4 / 1000
