Symptoms for the deficiency of nitrogen:

  1. Yellow (pale) colour of the leaves because of reduced chlorophyll content.
  2. Growth is stunted and the larteral buds are dormant because of reduced protein and starch stores/content.
  3. Also, fruiting and flowering is hampered.

Symptoms for the deficiency of potassium:

  1. Brown-scorching.
  2. Curling of the leaf tips.
  3. Yellowing of the region between the leaf veins; known as chlorosis.
  4. Purple spots develop on the underside of the leaf.
  5. The growth of the plant, development of the root, seed, and fruit is hindered.

Symptoms for the deficiency of magnesium:

  1. Chlorosis may occur and the leaves may turn into red-brown-purple colour.
  2. Leaf necrosis occurs and the older leaves may drop.
  3. Plant growth is hampered.
  4. Plants may experience premature ageing.

Symptoms for the deficiency of zinc:

  1. Plants may reduce in height: stunted growth.
  2. Chlorosis may occur.
  3. Bronzed upper surface of the leaves.
  4. Leaves may develop distorted shape.

Symptoms for the deficiency of iron:

  1. Chlorosis in young leaves may occur.
  2. Quality as well as quantity of the fruit is lessened.
  3. Overaccumulation of the heavy metals like cadmium may take place.
