Answer:

Disguised Unemployment

Disguised unemployment is an unrecognised kind of unemployment in which the individual is not working to his or her full ability and the output indicated by this unemployment is essentially non-existent.

Seasonal Unemployment

  • Seasonal unemployment occurs when persons engaged in seasonal activities are unable to find work, while being able and willing to work at the prevailing wage rate.
  • Due to the seasonal nature of labour, it is also known as periodic unemployment since it occurs at various times during the year.

Points of differences:

  1. The term "disguised unemployment" refers to a situation in which the total number of workers performing the activity or job is far larger than the real number of workers required to do it. On the other hand, seasonal unemployment occurs when there is a shortage of profitable employment during a certain time of the year.
  2. When certain employees become redundant, it leads to Disguised Unemployment. The demand for labour, on the other hand, is lower than usual during the busiest months in the case of seasonal unemployment.
  3. Disguised unemployment is most prevalent in agriculture, when five people are employed even though only two people are needed to cultivate a field. On the other side, seasonal unemployment is most common in agro-based businesses since during the busiest times, a big workforce is needed, but at the slowest times, there is no need for such a large workforce. Thus, work is only available during certain times of the year or seasons.
  4. Unlike disguised unemployment, which adds no value to production even if certain employees are taken from it, seasonal unemployment contributes value to production.
