MASS VS. WEIGHT

MASS :

The amount of matter contained in the body

It is measured in kgs , grams , pounds

Mass cannot change from place to place

It measured using common balance

Mass is always positive

WEIGHT :

It is the force with which earth attracts the body towards it's centre

It's units :

C.G.S = Dyne or gf

M.K.S = Newton or kgf

It is measured by using spring balance

It changes from place to place

Weight of the body at centre is equal to zero

Weight of the body in satellite is equal to zero
