Nitrification is the process of conversing of ammonia into nitrates and then into nitrates. This is done by intruding bacteria like nitrosomonoas and nitrobactor.Denitrification is the process of reducing the nitrates present in the soil to release nitrogen gas back into the atmosphere

The following are the differences between nitrification and denitrification :
1. The process by which ammonia converts into nitrates and after that converts into nitrites is called nitrification whereas the process by which soil ' s nitrates are reduced to release nitrogen gas in the atmosphere is called denitrification.
2. Nitrification involves oxidation reaction whereas denitrification involves reduction reaction.
3. Nitrification involves nitrifiers show more senstivity for environmental stresses whereas denitrification involves denitrifiers which show less senstivity for environmental stresses.
