Defects of Vision and their Correction.
Three common refractive defects of the eye:
Myopia.
Hypermetropia.
Presbyopia.
Myopia and Hypermetropia.
Refractive eye defects can also be corrected using contact lenses or through specific surgical procedures.
Explanation:
Answer:There are three types of defects of vision in human eye :-
1) myopia-myopia is also called near-sightedness.person with myopia can see nearby objects easily but cannot see distant objects distinctly. a person with this defect has a far point nearer than infinity.
2) hypermetropia-hypermetropia is also known as far- sightedness.a person with hypermetropia can see distant objects clearly but cannot see nearby objects distinctly. The near point for a person is further away from the normal near point 25 CM.
3) presbyopia-the power of accommodation of the eye usually decreases with aging. For most people, the near point gradually recedes away. They find it difficult to see nearby objects comfortably and distinctly without corrective eyeglasses. This defect is called presbyopia. it arises due to gradual weakening of the ciliary muscles and diminishing flexibility of eye lens
CORRECTION:-1) myopia can be corrected by using a concave lens of suitable power
2) hypermetropia can be corrected by using a convex lens of suitable power
3) people with presbyopia often require bi- focal lens. Common type of bifocal lenses consists of both concave and convex lenses full stop the upper portion consists of a concave lens and the lower part is a convex lens
