Divisibility Rule is something that determines if a number can be divided by the other. So the divisibility rule for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are as follows-
- 2 ⇒ The last digit is a even number or in simple words we can say numbers ending with 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 are divisible by 2.
- 3 ⇒ The sum of all digits is divisible by 3.
For example : 345 ⇒ So the sum of 3, 4 and 5 is 3+4+5 = 12. So as we know 12 is divisible by 3 and thus 345 is divisible by 3.
- 4 ⇒ The last two shall be divisible by 4 or numbers ending with '00' are also divisible by 4.
- 5 ⇒ The last digit is either 5 or 0.
- 6 ⇒ If the number is divisible by 3 and 2 it is said to be divisible by 6 too.
- 8 ⇒ The last 3 digits are divisible by 8 or numbers ending with '000' are also divisible by 4.
- 9 ⇒ The sum of all digits is divisible by 9.
For example : 288 ⇒ So the sum of 2 , 8 and 8 is 2+8+8 = 18. So as we know 18 is divisible by 9 and thus 288 is divisible by 9.
- 10 ⇒ Numbers ending with 0 are divisible by 10.
- 11 ⇒ For seeing if a number is divisible by 11 we subtract the last digits from the number formed by remaining digits.
For example : Lets see if 671 is divisible by 11. So 67-1 = 66. So therefore 66 is divisible by 11. And thus 671 is also divisible by 11.
