Geo degradation means water pollution and loss of nutrients in the soil. In Geo degradation we find less vegetation cover on the land.
Geo degradation is caused due to various reasons. Some of them are as follows-
Deforestation- Lots of trees are being cut every year. Due to this we witness soil erosion which in turn causes washing off all nutrients from the soil.
Modern agricultural practices- Fertilizers and pesticides are used excessively and that damages the fertility of soil.
Industrialization and urbanization- Increase in the rate of population creates problems of residential area and earning sources. This has resulted in deforestation to find empty space for living and to build industries.
Thus modernization and hazardous chemical inventions are damaging the quality of soil and water resulting in Geo degradation.
