 *They are the youngest fold mountains mountain of the world.
*It runs along the northern border of India and lie between the himalayan ranges in the north and the peninsular plateau in the south.
* they are made up of rich alluvium deposits.
* They are divided into 4 parts namely= bhabar, terai, bhangar and khadar.
