Here are the features of the northern plains:
1. Large flat land that makes it easier for cultivation and agriculture.
2. Availability of water due to the numerous streams and  rivers flowing throughout the year. It contains almost 40% of India.. 
3. Food supply is sufficient and a higher agricultural yield is produced to fulfill the hunger of the people residing near the area.
4. Fertile agricultural soil i.e. alluvial soil is available and leads to better growth in plants.
5. Provides a better economy to the poeple due to all the habitable conditions and leads to a better livelihood for the cultivators...
