Write the following equation in the form ax + by + c = 0 and find values of a, b and c:

4 = 3x - 5y. Check whether (1, -1) and (3, 1) are solutions of this equation or not.​

1. Write the following equation in the form ax + by + c = 0 and find values of a, b and c :

4 = 3x - 5y.

2. Check whether (1, -1) and (3, 1) are solutions of this equation or not.

ANSWER TO QUESTION : 1

Here the given equation is

4 = 3x - 5y

Which can be rewritten as below :

4 = 3x - 5y

⇒ 3x - 5y - 4 = 0

Which is of the form ax + by + c = 0

where a = 3 , b = - 5 , c = - 4

ANSWER TO QUESTION : 2

Check : I

Here the given equation of the line is

3x - 5y - 4 = 0

Putting x = 1 & y = - 1 we get

Since 3 × 1 - 5 × ( - 1 )

= 3 + 5

= 8 ≠ 4

So(1, -1) is not a solution of the equation 3x - 5y - 4 = 0

Here the given equation of the line is

3x - 5y - 4 = 0

Putting x = 3 & y = 1 we get

Since 3 × 3 - 5 × 1

= 9 - 5

= 4

So (3, 1) is a solution of the equation 3x - 5y- 4 = 0
