tangent is defined as the ratio of opposite side and adjacent side of an angle.

So,
→ tan A = opposite side of A/adjacent side of A
→ tan A = sin A/cos A

tan A is also the reciprocal of cot
→ tan A = 1/cot A

hope it helps....!

Tangent Is the ratio of side opposite and adjacent to an angel .

The opposite side is known as Perpendicular and the adjacent side is known as base .

If the angel is A then
TanA is given by → Perpendicular/Base .

some other useful formulas related to Tangent are :-
TanA = SinA/CosA
TanA = 1/CotA
1+Tan²A = Sec²A
Tan2A = 2TanA/1-Tan²A
