Write the formula for the magnifying power of a compound microscope and state why the focal length of eye-piece is kept small?​

Compound microscope's magnification formula is -(v0/u0)(1 + D/fe), when image is at D which is the least distance for distinct vision and it is -(v0/u0)(D/fe), when image is formed at infinity. Here, v0 is the image distance and u0 is the object distance for the objective lens, fe is the focal length of the eyepiece.
