Every since humanity entered into the machine age, pollution has been a direct and disadvantageous effect of modern technology. The environment is filled with harmful material that pose a threat to daily life. If we take a closer look at it, we will find that we are breathing impure air, therefore inviting respiratory diseases. We are also consuming unnatural or synthetic food matter that directly or indirectly affects our health. Waste material - solid, liquid and gaseous is on the increase and thus affecting the proportion of natural elements present on our Mother Earth. Thus it can be truly summarized that pollution is the bane of machine age.

Simply stated democracy is rule of the demos, the populace. How you choose to do that varies from nation to nation. No real democracies, where all citizens vote on all matters all the time, exist. In most cases the people who vote delegate power to representatives with the powers so delegating varying widely. Some nations incorporate technical experts in the process but the logic s that the concepts of regulation are shared with the electorate and they judge their appointees periodically in elections. Many nations also provide citizens an opportunity to comment on laws and regulations to ensure the same comport with the desires of the demos. When one looks at the USA it’s hard to find more involvement of the demos in the cracy. Elections are held at the federal, state, county and municipal levels allowing citizens to choose who they want as their representatives regularly. Add in governing boards and primaries and you have an almost unrivaled level of choice. But cracy of the demos requires a demos to be involved and where the dembs is apathetic, the rule thereof breaks down. Additionally, regulations that implement and better define the meaning of the laws adopted by the elected officials provide an opportunity to ensure that thing go in the desired direction. Some people disagree but the logic is thta the majority will make rules most people like. Now it gets complicated, especially where exceptions are made to protect minorities so by definition, regulation is not by the majority of the demos. In other cases representatives make concessions to ensure that the overall demos agrees. A classic example is the US’s deal in the constitution as to large state/small state approval. That was a deal that gave minorities more power but was needed for the overall group to agree to be a nation when the were not. Indonesia’s democracy is different from Kenyas, because Indonesians are different from Kenyans. Japan is different from Korea. Iceland is different from Norway. The UK from the US. Different people make different decisions but that is the nature of democracy: rule of the people.
