there are several functions of roots in plants which are :-

• roots helps in absorbing water and nutrients from soil. plants absorb minerals, nutrients etc from roots by the process of Osmosis.

• it helps to anchor the plant by supporting it so that it won't fall.

• roots also helps in vegetative propagation. many plants are are reproduced by the help of roots.

• roots helps in classification if plants too. different plants have different types of roots. some plants have tap roots, others have fibrous or any other type.
