LDR (Light Dependent Resistor):  A light-dependent resistor, or LDR varies resistance in a circuit based on the intensity of light falling on it. When a bright light falls on it, then the resistance is low and the current flows freely. When it is dark, the resistance will be high and the current stops flowing.

The functions of LDR are as follows -

1) Any security system controlled by an electronic eye is based on LDR.

2) LDRs are used as light sensors in street lights, light intensity meters and burglar alarm circuits.

3) LDRs are also used to control the shutter speed on a camera. It measures the light intensity and accordingly adjusts the shutter speed.
