A circle is a shape consisting of all points in a plane that are a given distance from a given point, the centre; equivalently it is the curve traced out by a point that moves in a plane so that its distance from a given point is constant. ...

Circle :

Take two points in a same plane. Then rotate the second point around the first point by keeping the first point fixed and the distance between the two points always equal. The produced curve will be a circle.

Parts of a circle :

• Centre - As mentioned in the above definition of the circle, the fixed point at the centre of the circle is simply known as the centre.

(Point O is the centre of the circle in the attached diagram)

• Radius - If we draw a straight line from the centre of the circle to any other point on the external curve of the circle, then that straight line will be the radius of that circle.

(OA and OB are two radius of the circle in the attached diagram)

• Diameter - If we expand a radius to the opposite side until the line touches the external curve, the produced straight line will be the diameter of the circle.

(AB is the diameter of the circle in the attached diagram)

• Circumference - The external curve of the circle is popularly known as the circumference of the circle.
