Actually the sum of gravitational potential energy n kinetic energy is known as mechanical energy. When there is no external force is acting then the mechanical energy is constant, this is known as law of conservation of mechanical energy.
For ex when a particle is moving then it's moving freely in gravitation n potential energy is constant.
