Subject: Appeal for funds for Amritsar Train Tragedy victims
Sir:
I am writing to your good self to express my deep grief over the tragic mishap in Amritsar on Dussehra eve. 59 people were killed and more than 100 were badly injured. Hundreds of people were standing and enjoying the burning of effigy of the demon, Ravana when the tragedy took place. The news sent a wave of sadness and mourning all across the state of Punjab and the entire northern India.
The accident once again has brought to light the general careless that prevails at all levels in India. The tragedy could have easily been averted with a little more carefulness and sense of responsibility. In the wake of the tragedy many families have lost bread-winners and many children have become orphans.
Through the medium of your daily I appeal to the Government and the people to help the victims of the tragedy. I appeal to people to contribute liberally to the Relief Fund for these victims. Kindly give enough space to my appeal in your esteemed daily.
