Answer:

Explanation:

Asia is rich in mineral resources due to unique geographical conditions. The main minerals are petroleum, coal, iron, manganese, tin, tungsten, antimony, copper, lead, zinc, aluminum, gold, silver, mica and precious stone.

North America is a leading producer of coal, used in energy production; bauxite, used to create aluminum; iron and copper, both used in construction; and nickel, used to create steel, which North American companies export around the world. Gold and silver mines operate in the western part of the continent.

South America's major mineral resources are gold, silver, copper, iron ore, tin, and petroleum. These resources found in South America have brought high income to its countries especially in times of war or of rapid economic growth by industrialized countries elsewhere.

Africa is blessed with a rich bounty of natural resources. The continent holds around 30% of the world's known mineral reserves. These include cobalt, uranium, diamonds and gold, as well as significant oil and gas reserves.

The EU metallic minerals sector produces a wide range of ores yielding metals or metallic substances. The EU is an important producer of chromium, copper, lead, silver, and zinc.

australia the world's leading producer of bauxite, alumina, rutile and tantalum.

Scientific expeditions have found valuable minerals in some of these Antarctic areas, including antimony, chromium, copper, gold, lead, molybdenum, tin, uranium, and zinc. None approach a grade or size warranting economic interest. Also noneconomic are the very large deposits of coal and sedimentary iron.

Answer:

The list of continents and its minerals are as follows-

  • ASIA- Iron ore resources are abundant in China and India. More than half of the world's tin is produced in the continent. China, Malaysia, and Indonesia are the world's top tin producers. China is also the world's leading producer of lead, antimony, and tungsten. Asia also possesses manganese, bauxite, nickel, zinc, and copper resources.
  • EUROPE- It is the world's top producer of iron ore. Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, and France have significant iron ore resources. Copper, lead, zinc, manganese, and nickel resources can be found throughout eastern Europe and European Russia.
  • NORTHEAST AMERICA- Its mineral reserves are divided into three zones: the Canadian region north of the Great Lakes, the Appalachian region, and the western mountain ranges. The Canadian Shield region mines iron ore, nickel, gold, uranium, and copper, whereas the Appalachian region mines coal. The Western Cordilleras are rich in copper, lead, zinc, gold, and silver resources.
  • SOUTH AMERICA'S - Brazil is the world's greatest producer of high-grade iron ore. Chile and Peru are the world's top copper producers. Brazil and Bolivia are two of the world's major tin producers. South America is also rich in gold, silver, zinc, chrome, manganese, bauxite, mica, platinum, asbestos, and diamond resources. Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Columbia all have mineral oil deposits.
  • AFRICA- Mineral resources abound in Africa. It is the greatest producer of diamonds, gold, and platinum in the world. South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zaire account for a sizable share of the world's gold production. Copper, iron ore, chromium, uranium, cobalt, and bauxite are some of the other minerals found in Africa. Nigeria, Libya, and Angola all have oil reserves.
  • AUSTRALIA- It is the world's largest bauxite producer. It is a major gold, diamond, iron ore, tin, and nickel producer. Copper, lead, zinc, and manganese are also abundant. Western Australia's largest gold deposits are in Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie.
  • ANTARCTICA- The geology of Antarctica is well known enough to forecast the occurrence of a range of mineral deposits, some of which are likely to be considerable. The quantity of coal reserves in the Transantarctic Mountains and iron deposits in the Prince Charles Mountains of East Antarctica is expected to be large. Commercial amounts of iron ore, gold, silver, and oil are also found.
