Acid, base and neutralization

Explanation:

A solution that has a higher concentration of hydrogen ions compared to water is called an acidic solution. pH of an acidic solution is less than 7.

A solution that has more OH-ions than H+ions is called a basic solution. pH of a basic solution is less than 7.

Neutralization is a chemical reaction in which a strong acid and strong base react with each other to form water and salt. It results in there being no excess of hydrogen or hydroxide ions present in the solution.

HCl (aq). + NaOH(aq). → NaCl(aq). + H2O

HCl is the acid and Sodium hydroxide is the base, which forms the salt NaCl and water.
