A mixture is a substance that is formed by mixing two or more substances (elements, compounds or both) physically in any proportion. No chemical reaction takes place during the formation of mixture and all the constituents retain their properties. Ex- Salad. A solution is a special type of homogeneous mixture formed by mixing solute and solvent. In a solution, the solute and solvent are mixed chemically and can be separated only by chemical methods. Ex- Salt and water.
