The ear consist of 3 parts :
outer ear
middle ear
inner ear

The outer ear consist of the pinna and external auditory meatus.
The middle ear consist of three ossicles called malleus, incus and stapes.
The inner ear consist of the labyrinth which is divided into the bony and the membranous labyrinth.

Now, when the external ear receives sound waves it directs it towards ear drum. The ear drum vibrates in response to the sound waves and this vibrations are are transmitted through the ear ossicles to the oval window and then this waves induces a ripple in basilar membrane of ear. The movements of basilar movement bend the hair cells pressing them against tectorial membrane. As a result nerve impulses are generated which are carried to the brain by auditory nerves.

Hope it helps.

Heya !

@ Ears- The organs of hearing.

>> The ears are the organs of hearing. They also help in maintaining the balance of our body.

>> An ear has three main parts - external ear, middle ear and internal ear.

>> The external ear consists of the pinna and auditory canal. The sound waves , collected by the pinna , travel through the auditory canal and strike the eardrum.

>> The eardrum is connected to the middle ear which has three tiny bones. These bones carry the sound waves to the cochlea of the internal ear.

>> From the cochlea , the sound waves are carried to the brain by the auditory nerve.
