The higher homologue of propane is butane. Propane contains three carbon atoms and butane has four carbon atoms so its formula is C4H10. There is an addition of CH2 group in successive homologues of a homologous series. With the increase in the number of CH2 groups, the physical properties such has melting point, boiling point, physical state etc. also change.
