Ester is formed in the process of Esterification.
In which Ethanol and Acetic acid are combined to form ester and water.
CH3CH2OH + CH3COOH –› CH3COOC2H5 + H2O
Ethyl Alcohol + Acetic Acid in the presence of conc. H2SO4 gives Ethyl acetate (Ester) + Water.
So, the molecular formula of acid that forms ester is CH3COOH
