A saturated compound is a compound in which only single bonds are present in between the carbon-carbon atoms. Majority of these saturated hydrocarbons are known to be alkanes. So, these alkane compounds in which the carbon atoms are supposedly arranged in the kind of a ring are called as cycloalkanes. They have a general formula of CnHâ‚‚n.
There are many saturated types of cycloalkane compounds. The cycloalkane which has the least number of carbon atoms is - Cyclopropane, as it has only 3 carbon atoms and each of these carbon atoms is connected to other carbon bond is a single bond. So, it will have 3 C-C bonds. 3 hydrogen atoms are attached to each Carbon atom.
Similarly, based on the number of single bonds, the other saturated cycloalkanes like cyclobutane, cyclopentane, cyclohexane, etc.
