The weather is all about the thermodynamic effect of air masses with different temperature, pressure and moisture. The greater the difference, the stronger the weather. It is as simple as that!  But then, local weather can be influenced by the geography. For example, a coastline can create a sea breeze blowing onshore during daytime and offshore at night. But then, it is also caused by a difference of temperature.
