Acharya Atre, Prabodhankar Thackeray, Senapati Bapat, SA Dange and Shahir Amar Shaikh were active members of the samiti who were the leaders who supported the demand of Unified Maharashtra with Mumbai.
Their leader was Keshavrao Jedhe. Samyukta Maharashtra movement became quite popular, which finally directed toward the state's creation, and the movement lasted for almost five years till it becomes effective.
