Som (Persea bombycina) & Soalu (Litsaea monopetala ). 

SECONDARY HOST PLANTS :-
Dighloti (Litsea salicifolia ) and  Mejankari ( Litsea cubeba).

Muga silk worm:

  • Muga silk is one of the very expensive silk of the variety found mainly in India and Bangladesh.
  • This variety of silk worm has two types of the hosts, one where it feeds upon and lives in the worm stage and the other where it makes its cocoons and from where it is mainly collected.
  • They are the primary and the secondary hosts respectively.  
  • The primary hosts of the muga silk are the Som plant also called as Persea bombycina & Soalu plant, also called as Litsaea monopetala.
  • The secondary hosts of silk worms are Dighloti plants, also known as Litsea salicifolia  and  Mejankari plant also known as Litsea cubeba.
