On moving down the group the thermal stability of the elements decreases because -
-There is an increase in the size of the atoms as the atomic the number of shells increases when we move down the group.
-So, the bond dissociation enthalpy of hydrides H-E (the energy required to break the bond of one mole of elements) decreases.
Thus the order of thermal stability will be; H2O > H2S > H2Se>H2Te> H2Po.
