Given

Score of player A: 12 115 6 73 7 19 119 36 84 29

Score of player B: 47 12 16 42 4 51 37 48 13 0

To find

Who is the better score getter and who is more consistent

Solution

N = Number of scores = 10

Mean of the score of player A

\bar{x_A}=\dfrac{12+115+6+73+7+19+119+36+84+29}{10}\\\Rightarrow \bar{x_A}=50

\sigma_A=\sqrt{\dfrac{\Sigma (x_i-\bar{x_A})^2}{N}}=41.83

Cumulative variance

\dfrac{\sigma_A}{\bar{x_A}}\times 100\%=\dfrac{41.83}{50}\times 100\%\\ =83.66\%

Mean of the score of player B

\bar{x_B}=\dfrac{47+12+16+42+4+51+37+48+13+0}{10}\\\Rightarrow \bar{x_B}=27

\sigma_B=\sqrt{\dfrac{\Sigma (x_i-\bar{x_B})^2}{N}}=18.82

Cumulative variance

\dfrac{\sigma_B}{\bar{x_B}}\times 100\%=\dfrac{18.82}{27}\times 100\%\\ =69.7\%

\bar{x_A}>\bar{x_B}

So, player A is a better score getter.

69.7\%<83.66\%.

So, player B is a more consistent player.
