- The formula of resistance is:

R = ρl/A

- Hence, the resistance depends inversely on the cross- sectional area:

R ∝ 1/A

- On increasing the area, the electrons can flow easily and hence the resistance is low.

- If area is less, the electrons cannot flow easily and hence the resistance is high.
