stomata is like a Gate from which gaseous exchange occurs in plants from stomata carbon dioxide is observed while photosynthesis and excess of oxygen is given out which is the by product of photosynthesis show stomata can be thought of a very useful part of plant in gaseous exchange

as a stomatal pore is guarded by 2 guard cells so the guard cells are responsible for the opening and closing of the stomatal pore as you know transpiration also occurs through the stomata and if the pore is open for a long time then all the water of the plants will be transpired by the stomatal pore so there are two guard cells which are there for the opening and closing of stomata when the oxygen concentration inside the leaf increases then the guard cells open up which enables oxygen to move out in the same manner when carbon dioxide is deficient inside the leaf stomatal pore opens to absorb carbon dioxide
