Sample Space ={1,2,3,4,5,6}

∴n(S)=6

A={2,4,6}

∴n(A)=3,

B={1,3,5}

∴n(B)=3,

C={2,3,5}

∴n(C)=3

  • The sample space is S = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 }

  • The number of sample points n(S) = 6

Given :

A die is rolled

To find :

  • The sample space S

  • The number of sample points n(S)

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Find the sample space

Here it is given that a die is rolled

So possible outcomes are 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6

Hence the sample space S is given by

S = { 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 }

Step 2 of 2 :

Find number of sample points n(S)

We see that total number of possible outcomes = 6

The sample space S consists of 6 points

Hence number of sample points

= n(S)

= 6
