Bhoodan literally known as "donating the land", was a movement started by Acharya Vinoba Bhave in 1950s. This is also known as "Blood less Revolution".
While delivering the ideas of Gandhiji in Poochampally Village of Andhra Pradesh, a group of landless villagers came to Acharya demanding the land for their well being.
In this regard, a man Chandra Reddy came and donated 80acres of land to the landless farmers and this generated a series of donating the land called as Bhoodan.
The significance of Bhoodan Movement in Agriculture Sector in India are:-
1. The rural landless peasants got a land to cultivate and sustain their family.
2. Exploitation of landless peasants working as labourers under the Zamindars reduced as peasants now can cultivate their own land.
3. Also the land holding rates decreased in India and Land distribution happen with further boost the productivity.
4. The rates of farmers suicide due to non possession of land and huge debt reduced drastically in the 1950s.
5. The Government can now implement the schemes related to Agriculture which benefit all the small and marginal farmers in the country.
6. Employment in the Agriculture sector increases and experiences a prosperity of farmers.
